BJFL Spring Cup 6 Final -Woodville Rangers 1-2 Mayfield FC – Under 10s

This morning saw Mayfield F.C. U10s win the cup final. All 10 players turned up to give their all this morning, Woodville came at us straight from kick off using their height and pace. Some nervous play allowed them plenty of the ball, but good hands from Billy Boulton-Lear seemed to calm everyone down. The back two of Sam Costabile and Matty Godfrey were starting to form a solid partnership when woodville took the lead after 10 mins with a simple goal.Midfield duties from Sebastian Banks, James Godfrey and Willem Davaney clicked after going one down and started to play the ball forward to Dylan Edge and the last 10mins was Mayfield’s but no clear chances. Luca Salsbury, Corey Charles and Jake Eades all put the effort in when introduced to the game, giving us the rest we needed.

Second half started how the first ended, reducing Woodville to long shots, but they needed saving, with Billy tipping one goal bound shot around the post. Tackles, tracking and moving the ball was immense from Sebastian and Dylan. Both attacking players doing the hard thing for the team, then with the call to play balls through the defenders, a ball was played through to Corey. The keeper slid out to gather, taking the ball out of the area, he took his hands off, Corey nicked the ball off him steadied himself and slotted the ball in the net form the edge of the box!

A shuffle in the pack with the Godfrey twins at the back and little Jake on the right with 3 minutes to go gave us some forward momentum. Dylan working hard up front found Sebastian in the centre, the ball was moved quickly to the right. With a delightful cushion of the ball with his right foot Jake had seen Sebastian had continued his run through the middle, the pass needed to be inch perfect, it was. First time shot on the run into the bottom left hand corner!!

Our energy saw out the game comfortably, scenes on and off the pitch.

Huge congratulations to all the Mayfield U10 boys, both teams.
